Event
As part of a senior thesis, Suzy Tamayo's directing project will explore the ways theatre communicates the immigrant experience through multilingualism and linguistic barriers. Based on the true heartbreaking story of Rita Quintero, La Mujer Que Cayó del Cielo portrays the challenges and confusion that language barriers can create when a migrant finds herself detained and misunderstood in Kansas. The play is written primarily in Spanish with some dialogue in Rarámuri (a Mexican indigenous language) and English. This will be a virtual production, so join us from wherever you find yourself in the world!
Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday evenings from mid-January to the end of February. Recorded performances will stream the first week of March.
Those interested should sign up for an audition time. No preparation necessary, as there will be cold readings in Spanish (with some English). No need for experience with the Rarámuri language--we will dedicate time for language work in rehearsals.
