Theatre Arts 350, Rehearsal and Performance

Production of George Orwell’s 1984

Directed by Theatre Arts faculty member, James Schlatter

Audition location: room 511 Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (UM level)

Audition dates/times:

Sunday, January 14: 2-6pm (auditions)

Monday, January 15: 6-10pm

For this production, a small company of actors will work together to create the dystopian society envisioned by George Orwell in his prophetic novel 1984, a world built on mindless-if blissful-conformity, war-fueled national supremacy, and a rigid class hierarchy, whose citizens are all kept watch over by Big Brother. Actors will play multiple roles, and help create choreographed movement and choral speech. Actors of all levels of experience are welcome to audition. Students receive one course credit for participating in the production process.
