Fefu is an unusual woman. Her daily rifle shots at her husband have so far not managed to kill him - or their relationship. She gathers her women friends together for a weekend of water play, philosophy, bourbon ice cubes, gender politics, and argument. Is wheelchair-bound Julia a prophet? Will Celia kiss Paula? Will Fefu ever hit her mark? Audiences, who travel from scene to scene in random order, piece together their own experiences of the powerful mysteries at the heart of this play, and come to their own conclusions. Susan Sontag called Obie award-winning Fefu and her Friends (1977) "a wonderful, important play." Explore Maria Irene Fornes' unforgettable dream-world, and find out why.
