ABOUT THE PLAY: Shipwrecked on the shores of Illyria, Viola disguises herself as a man and enters the service of Duke Orsino, who enlists her to woo Olivia. But when Olivia falls for Viola and Viola falls for Orsino, Shakespeare’s play embarks on a comic exploration of the desire for joy, connection, and reinvention that comes after we wash ashore following our darkest days. Our rehearsal process will involve in depth text work and strategies to bring one of Shakespeare’s most delightful comedies to life.
